Dhaka Textile
Dhaka is known for its elaborate colors and designs woven together on a small loom. The eighteen women selected to participate in the program have been weaving together unique designs and patterns that they then make into shawls, scarfs, bags, hats and other garments. As one of the most sought after textiles in Nepal, these women have the potential to reach large markets and produce textiles for people around the world. The women who age from 19 to 50 are passionate about taking part in this program to learn how to create new designs, as well as be instructed on how to create their own designs. With many of these women focused on fashion and selling their products to both locals and expats alike, it will be of no surprise when their business has woven enough scarfs to keep the whole world warm!
