Tailoring

Tailoring

These thirty three talented women greeted us by wearing their self stitched clothes. With every color and design you could imagine these women were everything but ordinary during our first meeting. Working well before the sun came up and after the sun went down, the local tailors were looking for opportunities to produce clothing for people outside of their communities.

With synchronized hands and feet, the women expressed their interest in tailoring and how they enjoy creating unique designs for themselves and friends. The humming of the foot powered machine continued as they expressed their desire and excitement to be a part of the program. While we stitched together various conversations about the program and their lives, we came to understand the importance of business and accounting skills, branding and marketing to increase their business prospects moving forward.  These provisioned training sessions aim to provide the local tailors with the skills they need to reach a larger market and be equipped to take on any order.
